Temporary skill shortage (TSS 482):
Basic Eligibility
- This temporary visa lets an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill.
- You should be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor
- You have the right skills to do the job
- You meet the relevant English language requirements
Unique features:
- Workers can only work for you or an associated entity.
- Workers must work only in the nominated occupation
- You can’t change the occupation without a new nomination
Skill or qualification requirements:
- The worker must have the skills to perform the nominated occupation.
- The worker must have 2 years of work experience in the occupation or a related field.
Length:
- It can be granted for 1-4 years.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (494):
Basic Eligibility
- This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages.
- An approved work sponsor should nominate you.
- You have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list.
- You have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation.
- You must be under 45 years of age.
- You meet minimum standards of English language proficiency
Unique features:
- Work must be in a designated regional area.
- The employment will be for at least a period of 5 years after the visa grant.
- You will be eligible for Medicare.
Skill or qualification requirements:
- Employer-Sponsored stream applicants require a skills assessment (unless exempt).
- Relevant registration or licensing must be held if required.
Length:
- It will be granted for 5 years.
Employer Nomination (186):
Basic Eligibility
- This visa lets skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently.
- You must have the necessary skills for the job.
- You must be nominated by an Australian employer.
- You must meet our health and character requirements
Unique features:
- No geographical restrictions.
- The employment will be for at least a period of 2 years after the visa grant.
Skill or qualification requirements:
- Direct Entry stream applicants require a skills assessment (unless exempt).
- Relevant registration or licensing must be held if required
Length:
- It is a permanent visa and is for 5 years.
Regional Sponsored (187):
Basic Eligibility
- This visa allows skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer in regional Australia, to live and work in Australia permanently.
- You must be nominated by an approved Australian employer for a job in regional Australia.
- You must be under 45 years of age.
- You should meet the skills, qualifications, and English language requirements.
Unique features:
- Work must be in a regional area.
- The employment will be for at least a period of 2 years after visa grant

Length:
- It is a permanent visa and is for 5 years.
